Beautiful Homes, Beautiful Sound
All homes have some standard features in common, but also some that differentiate. Often, it is items such as artworks carefully sited in stylish rooms, architectural features, custom-made furniture etc., which individualize the home. A casual visitor may notice such things, but once that new sculpture, painting, lamp, chair, table, speaker etc., has been in room for 3-5 days, the residents themselves cease to notice and just enjoy the improved domestic ambiance. The same reality applies to a fine stereo set up carefully in a lovely room for the maximum home audio experience. After a few days, the beauty of the sound flooding the home is the only thing that calls any attention to itself. Remember: Many great loudspeakers that look “weird” in the showroom will actually look terrific in your home, where they were designed to go! The Lavish Hi-Fi signature is “Sounds Great, Looks Great.”
If you haven’t heard Hi-Res , no amount of description will replace the thrill you’ll experience when you come in to Lavish Hi-Fi and experience original, ‘first gen’ sound’. Artists record a ‘master tape’ which has much better sound than we’ve ever had in our homes, no matter the medium, and now with just one or two pieces of up to date gear, you can have this same musical experience only dreamed about years ago. There are over two dozen websites from which you can purchase amazing hi-res sound, including HD Trax.com, ponomusic.com, itrax.com and others. Hi-Res is also represented by two physical disc formats. One is SACD, which has been available as a premium consumer format for many years now. SACD too, can deliver master tape grade sound; the SACD release of the first dozen Rolling Stones albums was called “the audio event of the decade” As well, the essentially unlimited audio capacity of blu-ray discs has resulted in quite a number of pure audio blu-ray releases that sound truly spectacular.
Streaming and Downloads
In simple terms, downloading music is equivalent to cooking a meal, setting the table, and dining at your leisure; streaming is more like gobbling up prepared food from a table that is already set. Your computer or network attached storage (NAS) devices store downloads; you own the music in digital form, but you’ll want to back it up! Streaming music is like watching the river go by; you don’t own it but you have 24/7 access to the stream. Both methods of acquiring music have advantages ,and neither is perfect, but for most folks today, these are the most popular choices. With memory and storage at very low cost now, do yourself a big favor and say bye-bye to music sound that has been ‘compressed’, i.e., stripped out by over 90%. Hear clean sound all the time. Who wants all that distortion that when you can now stream full CD quality or better instead?
